Philosophy has been a running discourse throughout the development of human civilization. Philosophy is a subject that pushes mankind toward questioning their existence in the universe. The core concept of philosophy is that wisdom and knowledge are solely the object of its discourse. Traced from its greek meaning the ‘Lover of Wisdom’. Philosophy is everywhere and the fundamental of the development of other subjects including math and science.
However, philosophers with their high level and complex understanding are fallen into the superiority complex dilemma. Which they tend to believe themselves to be somewhere on the higher level than average people.
The superiority complex of philosophers was inducted by many arguments. It’s generally believed by philosophers that they had a high level of thinking and understanding about the surroundings compared to average people. History of the dynamics in philosophical discourse was driven due to the fact of renaissance movement in europe in the aftermath of the Dark age in 16th century. Even traced back from Hellenistic movements which popularized philosophy in the europe and middle east. The old school of thoughts consist Socrates as a fundamental thinkers. With a strong dedication to spend most of their entire lives questioning, thinking and contemplating about the universe. And philosophers believe that they never fell into a dogma that would justify a blind faith in morality. They seek to gather understanding between good and evil.
With those perspectives, philosophers are arguably tend to become a non-believer. But within those scope of view they traced themselves to make a better human beings, there is no such a difference between them and regular theists/believers.
For the matter of fact, believers have prayers, sacred things, rituals, and morality. The diversity of religion create a heterogeneous prayers, sacred things, rituals, and morality. However, philosphers also have the similar kind of activities as average theists. They have a prayer such as thinking and contemplating. Now readers might think this a bit vague and ridiculous as there is no such similarities between activities. But, the fact that they dedicated their entire life as to do that activities meaning that they believe it’s the right thing to do. That’s the same as muslims do the 5 times daily prayer because they believe it’s the right thing to do.
Philosophers also believe the 3 types of class in this world that include all the species traced from this world. The plants and animals simply put on the first type as they don’t have the consciousness and intelligence as the human emerges to do so. In the second level, there’re average humans who live in a robotic reality. Sleep, eat, work, etc. that include all humans activities to thrive in this world for living. That means it’s including the writer and most of the people. Therefore, in the third level consists of humans that have trancended from second reality. Humans that thrive for questioning the universe and making a model out of it. Philosphers, scientists, mathematicians are fall into this category. However, believing in classes of society is also occured with hinduism. Caste system within India is a product of the hindu religion that had been rooted hundreds of years ago. In that case, believing in such system would make philosopher’s superiority complex seems a crystal clear.
There is one, big, and main similarity that encompasses not only the philosophical discourse and religious belief, but also the existence of mankind. Is that the bloody search for truth. In a non-hyperbolic term, humans are seeking for truth. And truth isn’t obsolete. Because truth is a concept that even empirical studies, religion, and methaphysical discourse couldn’t answer. Truth is relative between mankind, based on their believe. However, faith is the step that believers made for the truth discovery. While philosophers choose to dig down the knowledge as a right tool for the search of truth.
The unexamined life is not worth living
Life without experience and sufferings is not life
The highest form of human excellence is to question oneself and others
Those are the quotes from the famous greek philosopher Socrates. He’s not only famous, but also the fundamental of the dynamics of philosophy. With those faith in philosophical prayers and rituals, such as thinking and contemplating, the writer, myself doesn’t really see much different with theist and philosopher.
Because of believing what you’re doing is right, and believing others are wrong for not doing the same prayer as you did, is just completely a logical fallacy. Philosophers invented logical fallacy, and they just fall into their own invention. It’s just the same that muslims believe christians are wrong for believing that Jesus is the son of God, it’s just the same that christians believe the new testament and believing the old one is outdated, the writer could do this all day.
No matter what it is, difference in belief and faith is something that occurs for almost centuries in the human civilization.
